The Nelson Underwater Club is one of the oldest and most established dive clubs in New Zealand originally formed in 1959 to help the police search for missing people underwater from then it has matured through the years from hunting and gathering to it present stage. With over 150 members they enjoy regular trips to interesting locations locally, nationally and internationally. The club has a strong contingent of underwater photographers , Freedivers and Spearfishermen who enjoy competing in numerous club competitions as well as national competitions.
They have a membership coordinator, Jared Wallace, who looks after new members to ensure that the get diving and fit into the group as comfortably as possible. The club also owns some rental BCD's, Regulators and tanks for those divers yet to purchase there own.
